Millman imagines an ideal Republican response to the Iran agreement and Healthcare.gov:
To me, there’s an obvious way for the GOP to respond to both developments: run against healthcare.gov as proof that Democrats can’t even build a website, and argue that the Iran deal vindicates a tough negotiating posture with adversaries, and now requires continued vigilance in implementation. But I suspect they will do neither, instead running against healthcare.gov as proof that government can’t even build a website (implicitly conceding that Republicans wouldn’t do any better), and arguing that the fact that we got a deal with Iran proves that we weren’t tough enough (implicitly conceding that their goal is continued conflict, possibly war, and not a solution to the nuclear standoff). In other words, I expect a depressingly ideological rather than pragmatic response to both the Administration’s failures and its successes.

As a guy who builds enterprise-level software for a living, I’m pretty sure God Himself would have a rough go of it building a website that properly implements the 906 pages of the ACA law (not to mention the 10,000 plus pages of verbiage in the Federal Register) and properly coordinates the activities and databases of literally hundreds of private insurers, state and federal agencies. The website woes are merely symptomatic of the unworkable, byzantine complexity of the law itself. The problem is, once again, too much government.
As for Iran; peace in our time, baby! Woohoo! I just can’t wait for Iran’s first underground test! Won’t that be fun? Then again, maybe the Ayatollah will go for an air-burst test over Tel Aviv. Insha’Allah, Sec. Kerry!

It works fine in Ireland, England, Wales, Scotland, all of Scandinavia, Germany, Canada, Denmark, France, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland. It works in every country that has implemented single payer, which are all of the western industrialized countries. It delivers better and cheaper insurance and a better level of medical care.
Really, Republican’s do not understand nuance.
From Rush Limbaugh’s rape analogy of Reid’s actions on the filibuster move to Sarah Palin’s comparison of the national debt to Capt. Sternn’s bemoaning the tragic consequences of the Civil Rights Act while perched under the Confederate flag. The GOP from top to bottom not only has a messaging problem but a problem with their message.
By the way: Getting Senator Rand Paul to headline the opening of the Michigan GOP minority outreach center in Detroit is going to be great.
Maybe David Duke can co-host to make him look rational and reasonable…
